Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Shift your eyes to the very top of the computer screen in the toolbar near the Apple icon

The Base Station menu does not have an Equivalent Network Password option listed. I believe I have the latest version of Airport extreme software. Any ideas? Thanks for your reply.

You aren't looking at the Base Station tab in the window in the center of the screen are you? Do not look there.
Make sure that you have opened AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Shift your eyes to the top of the computer screen....not the window in the center of the screen.

I , too, trying to make my Brother HL45070 CDW printer on my wireless network
I have Airport Utility 6.1 (Mountain Lion)
There is NO manual set up!
The utility offers no tabs. Just a graphic depiction of my network
clicking on all the items listed offers much information but not a Newwork Key
Where do I find the Network Key?
Valdisfromrockyriver, Where did you find that log number?

The long "key" will rarely help, but it might be worth a try.
Open AirPort Utility, click on an AirPort device icon, then click Edit in the next box that appears.
Now, change the focus of your eyes all the way up to the very top of the computer screen to the menus...up where Help, Window, etc appear.
Click on the Base Station menu here
Click Show Passwords and the "key" will be revealed.

This is a Brother printer issue, to be sure but the PC nomenclature in the printer manual is confusing
I found, thank you, the Long key, painstakingly entered it (did that 2x, requiring easily a half an hour) and this was NOT what the printer wanted- of course I could not be certain if my long number has zeros or the letter "O".(I hate then there is not better differentiation, such as a slash through the character to show a numeral is required.
I then entered my network password and also ,the printer did not like it
The instruction book refers to Network Key = password = Encryption
So, I have tried the first two thingees, what is the Encryption?

Encruption is the network security > The thing thast is portecting you password from hackers.
If its an apple woruter its goign to be ising one of these three:
WPA 2 personal
WPA/WPA 2 Personal.
If you not sure
Go to appel icon > system preference > network > Selec wifi or airport in the left side and on the right side choose advance . int he perfered network list find you network name adn off to the right its will give you the type of security encryption your using

You won't believe this
I searched printer MFG site and found an illustrated manual on setting up wireless on my Brother Printer
I had been following the guide which came with printer; trying to set up quasi manually using the LED on the printer.Terse instructions
The website instructions referred to the CD which came with the printer .I had it and launched in my MBP
First of all, instruct on web was to clear the network card in the printer - a failed attempt to activate the wireless requires the reset ( printer manual said nothing of this)
Second- CD contained a wireless activations application which recognized my printer, and in only a few minutes I was set up
Network Key requested by brother IS the good ole network password which I know by heart.
I think the real solution was not the CD appliation but the instruction to clear , reset the printer network card and the clarification tthat only the network password is needed,( readily found in Airport Utility or Keychain as others here have explained).
DId not need that huge multi charcter key ...
So I think I am now wireless with my Brother (that reads funny )
