go to the photos app not the camera. Click on the albums tab on the bottom then click edit on the top right

Photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process cannot be deleted direct from the iPhone. These photos are removed from your iPhone the same way - via the iTunes sync process.
Photos in the Camera Roll can be deleted direct from the iPhone. With the Camera Roll selected, select the icon at the top right. Select the photos you want to delete followed by selecting the Red delete button at the bottom right.

What if they were added via someone elses itunes....i bought a secondhand i phone yesterday and want to get rid of the photos!

If the person that sold their iPhone was dumb enough not to restore their iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup or didn't erase all content and settings direct on the iPhone before selling the iPhone, you need to do so. The person that sold this iPhone is an idiot.
Restore the iPhone with iTunes on your computer as a new iPhone, or on the iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select erase all content and settings.

HELP..I have tried to do it through iTunes..It doesn't work..now what..
