There are some songs I've uplaoded to iCloud, they are not matched.

Is there any way I can "rematch" a song?

Should I just rescan the whole library instead? Please advise.

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.1

At this time there is no way to force a song to "match" that has uploaded. You might try deleting the tracks from the library and the cloud and re-ripping them from the CD at a higher bit rate but there is no guarantee that will work either.

The entire scan, or just selected items? Starting from scratch is not an easy task. Perhaps if you tell us what has prompted you to want to do this we can help you sort it out.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. The chsnces of the uploaded songs marching on a re-scan are almost non-existent. It would just ne more trouble than it would be worth.

There is only one good reason to change uploaded songs into found ones: Genius would be able to suggest recommendations. Uploaded songs have not been identified by Apple.

Well, today, the AC/DC catalogue is now available in iTunes - it never was before today.  I have most of their stuff in my own scanned files as "uploaded".  I'd really like to be able to rescan and have it match them now.

I don't know of a way to do that, as I'd like to remove the "uploaded" files from my account and go with matched files instead.

I know I can nuke them out of iTunes, re-add them and rematch, but I don't want to lose all the ID3 info, play counts, and things like that.

Has nobody figured out a way to do this?

    Hi,

Convert tracks from mp3 to AAC or vice versa within iTunes. You will keep play count info etc.

Delete original tracks, rerun match. There is no guarantee that this will work but is worth a try. I have had some success in past.

To follow up on Jim's advice, when you delete the original tracks from the iTunes library do not delete them from the HDD. You'll probably want them again at some point if a re-match doesn't work.

I was looking how to re-match the songs that were uploaded to iTunes match and I found this post, so I decided to try the re-encoding suggestion. However, I had my music in the cloud (different computer) and when I downloaded the music that I wanted to re-encode (AC/DC's Iron Man 2 album), lo and behold the info for the songs show that they have been matched already, and they even show the "Mastered for iTunes" logo.

So I guess even after you upload a song, Apple will regularly try to match it with their library. I thought I'd share this info with you and also see if someone else sees this behavior.

The only issue I have right now is that in my library the song still shows as "uploaded" instead of "matched" (I have a smart playlist to group all uploaded music).
