Originally I had about 5,000 photos. My time capsuel died so I removed the hardrive and put it in a case.  I recently purchased a new MacBookAir and imported all my photos from different sorces of backups. Now I have 51,498 photos.. some are the original size say 4mg and equal duplicates and then some are thumbnails like 46k. Obviously I want to keep only one.. but the best one. I don't know if any of the duplicate photo remover programs will keep the best photo. I thought I could show dublicates and delete all but the best but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore in iPhoto "11 ver. 9.2.3"? (strange!) I'm using OS 10.7.4 and don't want to do anymore updates until I resolve this problem. I'm not expecting anything magical and know this will take time but the best way is? Thanks for any help. Ken
