Aug 5, 2012 11:12 PM in response to iazemhastamby Kappy,Exactly which G4 PowerBook? Early models, 3,2 through 3,4 can handle 10.4.11. Thereafter, 10.5.8. Of course be sure your model meets the minimum system requirements.

Aug 5, 2012 11:24 PM in response to iazemhastamby Kappy,OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) is the end of the line. Leopard requires a minimum of 512 MBs of RAM. Look for it on eBay, Amazon.com, Craigslist, or search Google for other vendors.
Unfortunately, I don't know the precise model you have so, I'm not sure what the minimum OS X version wourld be. The earliest version shipped with a build of 10.3.7 while the last shipped with 10.4.2. Obviously, any version of Leopard will work. Be sure to get only a retail version as OEM versions are machine specific and most likely will not work.

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4). Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version
and not a model specific version (gray) (See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1976068 Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac?. After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
