Q: FCPX "Advanced Editing" troubleshouting

I am using FCPX trial version with Apple Pro training series manual "Advances Editing".

In the middle of working I find that background task calculation has turned "idle" and that no more calculation is done.

Therefore I cannot move ahead with the project.

Please indicate how can I have Background task resume working.

Kind regards,

What exactly are you doing? Background rendering is supposed to be switched off when working with the advanced book.

    Thank you for this answer.

I am doing various exercises in the book. During previous exercises background rendering was turned on apparently, I could see the calculation indicator working from blue to green whilst the orange bar length above the timeline was decreasing.

During lesson 3 background tasks stopped and there is a permanent orange bar. I wondered wether I did turn it off without noticing. How do you turn on or pause the background rendering?

    Thank you.

    Thank you very much again.

I noticed this check box. But selected or not, there is no rendering calculation performed...

Is it due to the tutorial image disk provided with the book?

THe book seems to imply that rendering should work since it asks me to desable it in lesson 7, for instance.

But it does not do anything since it is not calculating anything in the first place...

    ----

Update: after a few days it seems to work now on folowing lessons. The trick is to desable rendering in the preferences and to launch a render with control + shift + R when necessary.

It appears that rendering might be diesabled by the tutorial itsefl in certain lessons.

    Thanks for your help.
