Aug 6, 2012 8:28 AM in response to alanchrishughesby frederic1943,If you have a MacBook with the removable battery you can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every non-unibody MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody use the same battery.
Or for $129 from The Apple Store http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA566LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

Aug 6, 2012 12:28 PM in response to frederic1943by alanchrishughes,I don't have either of those, the first one says "This 55-watt rechargeable lithium polymer battery is compatible only with the black, 13-inch MacBook." and I didn't buy it in 2008 so the second one can't be right either. How did you find those pages? Is there a list somewhere with all of their batteries?

Aug 6, 2012 12:36 PM in response to alanchrishughesby frederic1943,If you want a page that says "This 55-watt rechargeable lithium polymer battery is compatible only with the white, 13-inch MacBook." Then go to this page http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA561LL/A It's the same battery just different color.
It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.

Aug 6, 2012 3:28 PM in response to frederic1943by alanchrishughes,I just want whatever one is compatible with my computer.
It says I have "MacBook6,1"
And are you sure that is the replacement? From its discription and the comments, it sounds like it is just an additional battery. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA561LL/A

Aug 6, 2012 5:43 PM in response to alanchrishughesby frederic1943,OK, you have the next to the last MacBook ever made. The model 6,1 Late 2009 White Unibody MacBook. Only this one and the next one use this battery. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.26-whit e-13-polycarbonate-unibody-late-2009-specs.html
The battery on this model is harder to replace that the earlier MacBooks but is possible to do it yourself. That's why Apple doesn't show how to replace it on that page you linked. Apple doesn't sell them to users. They want you to take it into the Apple Store to have it replaced. Here's the instructions from ifixit.com http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-MacBook-Unibody-Model-A1342-Battery/1667/ 1
You'll need a special Tri-wing Y1 Screwdriver as well as a #00 Phillips. http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/Tri-wing-Y1-Screwdriver/IF145-107?utm_source=ifixit_ guide&utm_medium=guide_intro&utm_content=required_items&utm_term=macbook_unibody _model_a1342
Here's the A1342 battery on eBay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=+macbook++battery+a1342&_sacat=0&_odkw=white +unibody+macbook++battery+a1342&_sop=12&_osacat=0
