    Hello,

Which version of the PowerBook do you own as they stopped making them in 2006?

Have your tried putting an external Monitor using the DVi output to see if you get an image?

It's actually a MacBook pro from 2008. I have to track down an external monitor to use but in the past the dock etc... is only on the screen on the powerbook and not on the external monitor screen. How do I get that to be the default monitor if I cannot control anything from the powerbook itself? thx

So your using a MacBook pro that has screen problems?

With an external monitor attached to your laptop it  will automatically boot your Mac to use the attached external screen. You may need to close the lid to achieve this.

If this proves to be successful then your laptop would need a replacement display component, like the video lead or inverter board. If it proves to be unsuccessful then it could be a graphics controller issue.

    Best of luck
