I work in a small office and a couple of our macs have started taking a long time to open the Print Diolog Box. I'v restarted the computer, reinstalled the printer drivers, Reset the Printing System, and Reparied Disk permitions but nothing seems to have worked. We have 2 printers in the office and both of them take a long time to load the diolog box. Installed one printer at a time to see if it was a certen printer. It does eventually load the printer diolog box and prints fine but it takes up to and over 60 sec to load.

Any ideas what the problem could be perhaps a solution.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?

How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

Free Mem only 300MB will slow it.

    Which iMac is it?

So we know more about it...

You can upgrade them as far as 6 GB of RAM,, just like mine, & 6 GB made mine much speedier than the 4 GB I tried 1st...
