having used a windows pc, i decided to change to a mac, even though I was aware that the transition between a pc and a mac would not be easy. Having been used to pc itunes, I went to do my usual syncing and backing up of my iphone. Now I realise that there is no backup option when clicking on the iphone. Having been told that the mac syncs and backups the iphone automatically, I wanted to be sure it had been backed up. The problem is when I go into itunes preferences and clicking on the device tab, there are no backups shown. I cannot understand why this is so when itunes shows the syncing process.

I couldnt find any answers relevant to the issue on the internet. I have even updated the itunes software and changed my iphone's name.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

The transition can be very easy.   Do you have "Back up to iCloud" selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?

When backing up locally on your computer's hard drive, the backup is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The same applies with Windoze iTunes, and with iTunes on a Mac.

You can manually backup without having to sync by Control-clicking on the iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list vs right-click on the iPhone with Windoze.
