This procedure hasn't fixed my problem. All wifi range canals have the same transfert rate for me. On wifi g or n ... this is the same thing. At 2 or 3 meters of the home router : OK...145 Mbits/s ....but at 10 meters.... just 13 Mbits/s without nothing between the router and my MBPro...

my macbook pro retina 15" has been fine for months on my BT home hub, and 2 days ago, after I rebooted the hub, it slowed right down, from 300kbps to 70kbps.

My iphone, w7 pc were all fine. After reading this and changing my BT home hub wireless setting to only use 802.11 N and a static channel (8), the mac got back on it, and now does 300kbps again.

weird, but the router reboot knocked it out.

    just fyi

    Hi All, Hi rogerfinch,

    I reply from France.

I have a MBP 15" model end 2011. I paid it on may 2012. In France we have a lot off ADSL Routeur that are nammed as "Box" (Freebox, DartyBox, OrangeBox....) . All internet providers here purpose BOX but on 2012 i encountered a lot of slowness issues on WIFI on my MBP connected to "BOX router". After call to the apple care, a lot of tests with the apple care, no solution has been found (dumps generated on the wifi parameters...etc....). Tests with my Aplle Iphone 3GS, or 4 and PCs ==> no issues , wifi rate OK. But only slowness with my MBP. I have tested all solutions found on the forums about this kind of issue, and the problem was not fixed.

At the end, as no solution, i have bought a Apple Airport (the 99$ model, 100 € here) and now i am connect in 5 Ghz mode at 300 Mbps in wifi. The tool Wispy can display for you the wifi DL rate on the top menu on the desktop.

Some wifi chipset are not well "recognized" or "compatibles" with MBP... for sure!!!!!

This IS AN APPLE ISSUE... But for me no solution exist... updates and patchs have not changed anything.

    regards, all.

I tried several of the suggestions that I've read on here, but I finally decided to scrap my old linksys router and try something new to see if that was the issue.  I don't use my Macbook outside of my house very often, so I didn't think it could have been anything but the laptop itself.  I went with an apple airport extreme with intention of returning the item if it didn't work.  Turns out, it did the trick!

I had all the same problems - slow internet, wifi connection, slow to router, connection dropping etc. I did all the things I could found on the blogs - change channel, change dates and time zones, delete wifi files, do all possible resets on the mac, etc., but nothing worked. I am running Yosemite 10.10.2. At the same time my iphone and Windows based PC worked fine with the previous router (tp-link).

So I gues there must be some compatability issue which I failed to fix or even find. Maybe it is that there are other routers around me that cause this interfierance, I do not know.

Finally, I got tired of all this mocking about and simply went to the shop and bougt a little more expensive router (cisco) and it all is fixed now and working great. No problem at all. Just pluged in the router, connected the mac and the net flies!!

I've been having issues with slow wifi on my mac too but I simply changed my browser from Safari to Google chrome and now it's pretty much fine. Hope this helps.
