You don’t need cell phone service to use iMessage. iMessage merely needs an internet connection. For your caller ID you'll use your Apple ID, instead of the cell phone number of an iPhone.

    Hi,

If the iPad has a Sim Card as well then you can use Messages app and Send iMessages via WiFi or over your cell service (subject to Data transfer quality and Ability)

It it only has WiFi to connect then it will work when you have WiFi access (to and from your Apple ID)

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

Imessage will work if your phone is in airplane mode but your are conected wifi.

I message will also work anywhere if you have a data plan.

The OP has an iPad, not an iPhone. iMessages can be sent over Wi-Fi regardless of Airplane mode.

    Hi Ipad/ipod/iphone user.

This app will work in any location where you have wifi, which is free, to call any north american phone free; regardless of what you read by others.  You I know can figue out how to download it in any country in the world; you dont need someone to spell it out for you. Hi everyone,

Much more important was the thread was nearly a year old.

I knew that, I still try to correct/clarify spotty advice, regardless of the age of the thread it was given in, as passersby can still come across it.

    HI,

I would tend to do the same myself.

I am a little surprised at times about the threads that still appear Open and not Archived that allow this sort of thing to happen.
Strangely I am still Notified on new posts (As I posted to this thread before).

It was more a a generic heads up post though.

Interesting indeed. You'd think there would be a year cut-off (although I guess this thread is slightly less than a year old) before posts get archived.

    Hi,

In some Communities it is months (or used to be).

I supposed the iChat Community has now reached that point where a thread has not dropped down far enough, fast enough to be Archived.

I display about 25 threads to a page  (long titles do seem to effect this).

It would make sense that a thread that got to be 500 or so from the top would get Archived.

In more frantic Communities that would happen sooner, time-wise,  and appear to have a earlier cut of date.

I had not really realised that the iChat Community had become that quiet.
