Your description of the problem suggests you selected photos that do not qualify to be deleted at the iPad.
You can only delete photos at the iPad that were added there. Photos that were synced from your computer must be deleted (or moved) AT the computer and re-synced to delete them from the iPad.

None of the articles you linked to seem to address the most frequently-asked question about deleting photos from iOS devices, namely:
"How do I delete photos from my iPad that were originally imported via iTunes synch if I am unable to connect to that iTunes computer?"
In my case, the computer is thousands of miles away, but other scenarios include the computer having failed terminally, having been stolen, being on travel with another family member or employee, etc.
Any advice you might have would be welcomed by me and the many others having the same frustrating user experience.
Finally, if you have any insight into the reason that Apple imposed this infuriating restriction, I would really like to know it. I find it hard to believe that Apple would not have considered usage scenarios that would result in this problem.

You simply refuse to believe what has been posted countless times in the past, and in the various discussions that you continue to ask this same question.
You CANNOT DELETE SYNCED PHOTOS WITHOUT UNSYNCING THEM IN iTUNES. That is the only way that it can be done. Delete other content if you need more room on the iPad. But for now, you are stuck with the synced photos until you can unsync with your computer.
Forgive me for shouting, but I am just trying to make sure that you finally get the message. You can send Apple feedback here.
I would guess that countless users have sent Apple feedback about this since the iPad was first released. Why Apple has not seen fit to change how it works, is something that only Apple knows.
