    Hi,

GO to the Home Folder/Library/Preferences again and find com.apple.imservices.imessage.plist

With Messages shut down/Quit/Closed drag the said .plist to the Trash and then restart Messages.

Thanks Ralph but that did not help either.

I tried to delete the .plists he mentioned but that did not work. Not even resetting the PRAM worked.

Is a factory reset the only thing left to do?

    Hi,

How would one go about doing a Factory Reset on  Mac ?

The Thread started by asking about not being able to get the Messages app on  a Mac to sing in to the iMessages service.

My impression now is that you may be talking about an iPhone

    Hi,

Claunia's Method is the closest thing to a total reset of the App.

IF you have AppleCare I would give them a call.

I dont have AppleCare, i´m afraid.

I´ll just go ahead and do a reset of mountain lion from my USB-drive.

    Good day,

same problem here, brand new MBA, Mountain Lion, Imessage worked fine for about 2 weeks till today, where I suddenly couldn`t send any messages! All my contacts appeared in red, none of them were supposedly "registered", people I was chattting with only yesterday though.

I went through this thread, I deleted all the relevant files in Library/Preferences with Imessage stopped, rebooted the computer, nothing.

I set the DSN to 8.8.8.8, alas.............to no avail.

I would like to know how this happens all of a sudden, on a brand new laptop, with the latest software.

My Apple ID is NAME@yahoo.com, and has been working fine for years.

    Regards,

Ah, I forgot to mention........I signed out because of my inability to send any messages.

So now I can not sign in any more.........it says:

"Server encountered an error processing registration, please try again later", and that is for a good few hours now........H.E.L.P!???

    Cheers,

Can you logg in on any other device? If yes, i think a reset of you're MBA is the only option.

    Good point Joesoes,

I managed to log on to my wife`s Ipad with my account, and my wife gets the same server error while trying to log in with her username on my MBA.

Mmmm, where do I go from here!???

Why does my MBA give me sudden problems?

    Cheers,
