I found the answer in another section... THIS WORKS!

In Finder navigate to Macintosh HD / Library / Printers / hp / PDEs. Right (control) click on 'hpPostScriptPDE.plugin' and 'Show Package Contents'.

Then open the Contents folder and you will find a plugins folder. DELETE IT and your printer will work.

The old 2.09 version did NOT have this folder and plugin.

I've got the same issue with my HP OfficeJet 4500 G510n Wireless All-in-One, but I'm running OSX 10.7.4 Lion & the new HP printer drivers update. This is why I'm waiting to update to 10.8 ML, but I got shafted anyhow. You'd think I'd learn by now not to update anything printer related, as 75% of the time I do something breaks & I can't print shipping labels for my business.

I tried deleting the folder mentioned but mine was named slightly different, named something like: "hpPDE.plugin" & it disn't solve the issue. I was going to do the trick pulling the file from a Time Machine backup, but remembered I hadn't saved my new system since migrating to my new Macbook Air! Anyone that can find a work around for 10.7 Lion please let us know.

**Also: the old 2.9.x HP drivers are removed from Apple support downloads & the only other one is 1.1.1!! I did manage to find a link on a Japanese blog to the HP 2.9 drivers on Apple Japanese support site here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=ja_JP

but installing it didn't help either. I wonder if I didn't delete the correct driver folders?

I am running OSX 10.7.4, HP2025DN printer, all was working fine until this morning, nothing will print.

When I print, App does not crash; Printer reboots, and printer Status Page says "pipe broken".

So I installed new firmware from HP (Feb 6, 2012), deleted printer from system, re-installed printer driver... no change... printing from any app re-boots printer and nothing prints

None of the above solutions seem to work. I do not have copy of previous printer driver

how do I get my printer to work ?

    thanks

Did you try deleting the new HP driver & installing the HP 2.9 driver in that link on the Japanese Apple support site? That worked for me after deleting, instal HP 2.9 drivers & browse file path: <Macintosh HD / Library / Printers / hp / PDEs>, then Control click on 'hpPostScriptPDE.plugin & select "Show package contents" & delete the plug-ins folder. (I just deleted the whole "hpPostScriptPDE.plugin" folder & it worked. It didn't seem to take effect until I rebooted both my Mac & the printer though.

I tried installing HP printer drivers 2.11 and the installation keeps failing. Any ideas as to what I can try? I tried getting rid of the HP folder in the library and reinstalling to no avail.

    Thanks.

Although that solved your issue, that plugin has been around since 9/29/11. I've not installed HP upd 2.11, but I don't expect any issues. This from the 2.10 update:

I tired deleting the plugin AND the HP folder but the 2.11 software still would not install on my Mac Pro running 10.8.1 Fortunately I did a TM of a previous HP folder.... but then I have to use a generic driver instead of the one for my printer.

I'm still working in SL and HP upd 2.11 installed w/o issues. I'll try later in ML after installing the 10.8.1 update. If that fails, I'll revert to 10.8.0, install the HP update, then the 10.8.1 one.

FWIW, 2.10 Added a new DesignjetPDE.plugin to the PDE folder, but I only have PhotoSmart ones. This is what's on my machine before and after installing 2.10:

FWIW - All apps crash when trying to print on HP (HP Laserjet CP1515N) - no obvious new drivers available at HP site for Mac. No route to contact HP - Basically you're on your own! - I noticed that the printer still worked fine on another Mac in the house - so I worked out that the issue is purely software related.

So I totally removed all refs to HP - reset all printers and went in to all library folders and deleted all residual HP files. I repaired permissions and then re-installed the printer. This turned out to be a pointless waste of time!

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and repeated the procedure above. Pointless!

    What was I missing?

Anyway - I did a time machine restore of the same HP printer folder I had been deleting and repaired permissions again and voila! We are back in the game. Horray for Time Machine!

Glad it's all working again - though a little confused and dissapointed in the hours lost in the process.

Wondering if, when my other Macs do the same update, I will have to go through this again for each one?

Wouldn't it be better if the updates were actually beneficial to us rather than distructive?

Wouldn't it be good if the people issuing the updates actually got involved and addressed the issues rather than leaving us to fend for ourselves?

Feel a little miffed - especially with HP. They seem to offer support only for people within warrantee. Am I wrong to feel unsupportted?

Was it them that issued the update? I don't even remember it installing.

I don't expect anyone to answer really - I just thought I'd note this stuff in passing.

No issues w/my three HP AIOs and their updates.
