If I recall some other posts correctly, this feature will be in iOS 6, coming soon to a theater near you. For now, I use iA Writer on the mac and my iOS devices to sync text files using iCloud.

Yes, I had this same question.
When, exactly, do we get IOS 6? I really need to be able to sync/view texts and pdfs in addition to Pages.
BTW...Pages is working GREAT with iCloud...I love it.

Are we getting this in iOS6?

OK, I now have IOS6 on my iPad. Is there a TextEdit app? I don't see it.

I also have iOS6 on my ipad and iPhone, and I can't find any TextEdit o Preview app to access iCloud.

Hey folks, iOS 6 is installed on my iPad, but I can't see a Preview App anywhere. Any ideas on how to view my non-iWork files stored in iCloud?

Documents in the Cloud seems unfinished. There should be a way to directly access these files from within an Apple-created iOS app. TextEdit and Preview need iOS equivalents.
Right now I'm using Dropbox and Elements (an excellent 3rd party text editor) for text files. I'm using Dropbox and iBooks for PDFs as a workaround. These solutions work but they feel like a hack. I look forward to Apple providing an update that brings full, native support to accessing iCloud stored TextEdit text (and RTF?) documents as well as Preview PDF documents on iOS.

I second this motion. Pretty silly that Apple markets "see all your documents on all your devices." and then can't see any of our Apple App docs (TextEdit/Preview) on any mobile devices. I hope this comes along soon...

I got latest in iOS 6, and got the latest in Mountain Lion. Buy all the products and not accustomed to Apple not delivering on what they advertise. iCloud for textedit does not work on my new iPhone and iPad. DO YOU WANT ME TO SWITCH APPLE?
I miss iDisk. Paid $100 a year and you took it away. Now this solution is much worse then what you had 8 years ago.
Somebody give my guidance before I drop iCloud completely.

I am using icloud for calendars and contacts only. I use another major provider for documents & other files.
iCloud has a long way to catch up-

icloud is really handicapped without this fundamental feature!
