Q: iMac G5, can I upgrade to snow leopard?

It is already at it's max OS level, 10.5.8. Anything higher requires an Intel processor that cannot be retrofitted
For the "what can I do with it" part, you might ask in the iMac (PowerPC) forums here:
where plenty of people still have iMac G5s in service. The forum labeling is "fuzzy" at best around here--the one you found is for PowerMac towers and the G4 Cube.
Other than max out the RAM (2g Max), and maybe a larger hard drive, there is not any hardware upgrade you can do.
