Q: Rebuild my iPhoto '08?

After following the steps to rebuild my iPhoto library, I still have a dialogue box reading: "Your photo library is damaged or unreadable and cannot be opened. Please restore from a backup." My photos are backed up and ready to go, so... Suggestions? Thanks!

iPhoto '08, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Thanks. I am stuck though... every time I try to rebuild (option + command while opening iPhoto), I can select rebuild the library, etc., but still get the same dialogue box as below, and am forced to quit iPhoto. How can I restore iPhoto and rebuild when all streets seem to lead to the same dialogue box/option to quit?

Restoring does not involve iPhoto. Is using the backup program you backed up with to restore the iPhoto library
