Q: Sad face icon what does it mean

My husband dropped his ipod and now we only have a sad face.

Is there anything that can be done?

iPod classic (120 GB), 20 GB from 2005

See here: iPod displays a sad iPod icon

Note that it's often a good sign of a hardware issue with the iPod's hard drive meaning the iPod will need to be serviced or replaced.
