I deleted my Logs and Cache folders from my /library/ folder and then restarted. Since then mac mail is cruizing along nicely. To access that folder you need to open finder and then hightlight your Macintosh HD and then press Shift-Command-G

Aug 23, 2012 6:49 AM in response to Jughead101by gatekpr,I deleted the logs and caches folder, not knowing the consequences because my mail was so brutally slow. It worked, even without rebooting! I'm finally able to zip through emails. I thought my whole system was dying!
