My iPod is not the lastest generation and still running under 4.2.1.

I was told that could be the reason why some app icons won't display on my iPod.

I was suggested to do the software upgrade.

Ok, I connected my iPod to my MacBook via iTune.

I clicked on Check for Update.

What it ened up is a window saying

This verison of the iPod software (4.2.1) is the current version.

I checked my ITunes and i'm sure that's the latest software.

Why does it keep saying my 4.2.1 is the latest version even though it's not.

Is that because my iTunes is too old that's why I can't upgrad to the latest version?

Any ideas?
