Aug 6, 2012 9:29 AM in response to Madg4by Knucklesmac,Hello,
Try booting it into Safe Mode and restarting your PowerBook
if that fails then it sounds to me like you may need to run disk repair.
You will need your system restore disk or a Mac OS X disk 10.5 retail disk.
These instructions may help you

Best of luck.

Aug 19, 2012 6:12 PM in response to Knucklesmacby The Mac Bot,I had the same problem!
1. Reboot
2. Hold down Command + S at the startup chime
3. When black screen appears release
4. Type: mount -uw / then hit Return
5. Type: rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone then hit Return
6. Type: exit then hit Return (you may need to exit twice)
7. Proceed through and obtain a new login
8. In the Finder, hit Shift-Command-G and type: /Library/Preferences
9. Delete com.apple.loginwindow.plist
10. Go to System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options and turn off Automatic Login
11. Reboot. It should work this time.
