Q: what OS for G3 ibook

Hi everyone,

 

I have just aquired a late 2001 G3 ibook M8598LL/A  600 mhz. 20gb Hard drive. 128 mb. RAM

 

It was very cheap and in excellent condition.

 

It has 10.1 Puma installed.

 

If I max the memory to 640 can I get Panther or preferably Tiger installed.

 

When I clicked about this mac all it says is total memory and which OS is installed. There was no get info to find out anything else. Is this all you get with Puma.

Hello Alan,

 

If you maxed the memory to 640 then yes you can install Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) I wouldn't waste time installing panther.

To get further information try going to utilities and then profiler. It must have the system profiler installed in the utilities folder.
