After using Boot Camp, my Mountain Lion partition does not boot; it remains at the spinning wheel for at least an hour. I booted into Verbose, and noticed that the boot process had stopped after FIPS. As far as I know, FIPS is a high-level security system often used by government agencies and the like, but I've never done anything like that. I found another forum discussion here, where the poster had to reinstall the OS. I'd had this problem before, and I reinstalled ML from the App Store - I'd been using a developer preview before that. Now, I'm on stock ML and I still have the problem. In the other thread, indeed, one poster asked the OP if he'd been using a developer preview. Is there a resolution to the FIPS problem other than reinstalling the OS (something I'd rather not do)?
