The only thing you should need to download would be any updates that might be available.
Every new Mac sold by an Apple authorized reseller should have those base apps installed.
P.S. and no, iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie are not free. They are bundled as part of your purchase price of the Mac, so you paid for them. Otherwise, they are paid downloads from the App Store.
