So, I just left the Genius bar where we needed to a due a full reset of my iPhone4s.

Before the hard reset of my phone, I had 318 photos on my iPhone photostream and 319 in camera and all were backed up to iCloud.  Due to numerous reasons, Apple does not want me to restore my phone settings from the back-up version saved on my computer, so I must recreate the best I can.

The biggest issue I am having is, we checked to make sure I back up to icloud before we did a full reset of the phone. After the reset and at the Genius bar, we checked to make sure the photos were starting to download.  However, only 39 photos downloaded.  And now I can't get the remaining photos to sync from iCloud.

I think what happened is the phone was plugged in to the airbook for the reset, we saw photos downloading (and thought, phew that worked) unplugged the phone to complete the rest of the phone set up. And some how they stopped downloading mid stream.

If you go to iCloud back-up option it's scary...states it will DELETE all photos from iCloud and back-up with what is on your phone.  In my case, I need what's in iCloud to my phone.

If no-one has a suggestion, I am going to restore my phone to my 'bad' back-up, make sure they are saved on a hard drive, and then go back to the genius bar for a full reset.

PS:  Why can't I see my photos in iCloud???

The only way to retrieve your photos would be to either have them in photostream which you can check if you own a mac or ipad to verify they are there. The bad backup will have to be deleted and unless all your photos went to the photostream then they are probably gone.

If you back up now then only those 39 will be backed up. Use photostream because it is seperate from the backup.

To recover your photos you'll have to reset your iPhone and restore it to your iCLoud backup; just leave your phone plugged in and on WiFi so the complete backup can download.

So if I'm understanding your suggestion, reset again restore to iCloud. Grab my pictures, save them.  And then restore my phone again but 'as new' not from back-up data.

Apple doesn't want me to back-up from any data saved.  They believe something is corrupt in my saved data.

In a word: yes.  If there's something corrupt in your backup then whatever your original issure was will just continue.

I'm having similar problems! A couple of months ago I visited the Genius Bar because my lock button was no longer working.  The end result was that they had to switch out my old phone with the phone I currently have.  It made me really nervous because I didn't want to loose my pictures but they reassured me that everything would return back to normal after iCloud finished downloading everything from my old phone.  However, once I left the Apple Store my new phone never finished downloading my old backup.  Now I only have the first 24 pictures from my old camera roll which only had a couple hundred photos to begin with.  Also from the switch, I now have two back ups and am praying my old photos are on the old backup somehow.  I'm afraid to restore or backup or do anything really with my phone without assistance because I don't want to loose more pictures or accidentally delete something important.  How do I get pictures from an old back up without loosing the ones I currently have on my phone? Can anyone give me step by step directions please?
