Unfortunately Safari 6.0 can no longer easily download YouTube videos. There are other apps which will perform this function. Try MacTubes @ http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/28608/mactubes... Copy the URL of the YouTube video and open it in MacTubes using the file menu. There is a download function in the MacTubes player and you can choose the video format as well.

Yes you can do it. Its not that toughand you dont require any additional software or players. Simply go to Safari 6 and turn on developer tools. This little youtube video explains it.
