Last night, I got an error that my password was incorrect, when attempting to update an app. This, after reading the recent Wired article: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/08/apple-amazon-mat-honan-hacking/all/

    I didn't have his problems.

    Here's what happened to me:

I attempted to enter my password too many times and got the "you need to get a new password" message. I'm not sure why it didn't like my PW. I may have been entering it wrong every time - I'm not perfect. I went through the steps to recover and received the Apple email. I changed my password including a non-numerical/letter character. I am able to log in via the Apple.com site from a computer's browser, using the new PW. I continually get the same UN/PW error message on my iPhone.

    Steps:

I checked and my password is correct via Apple's site.

    I've turned off the phone.

    I've power cycled the phone.

I've turned off Apple ID on the iphone and turned the phone off.

I've turned Apple ID off and Power Cycled the iphone.

Then I went to Apple's Account area and found that I now have 2 IDs. One with the old UN/PW, and one with out the @gmail.com and the new PW.

I cannot log in from the phone with the non email UN. I can from the site. I can - now - log in via the old one.

Makes you wonder. They must make a killing off AppleCare.  I was under the impression applecare support was for product malfunctions and other support.  I would assume an across the board problem to customers where they screwed up--would be free support.  $29 what a scam in this instance.

Restarting my iMac solved this problem for me too.

I couldn't make Facetime calls from my iMac, went to preferences to turn it Off and On again as suggested in Apple Troubleshooting, then couldn't get out of the 'Apple ID is incorrect' loop.

I restarted my iMac and Facetime accepted my Apple ID.

As if "Punctuation" and "Paragraphs" are standard English grammar and spelling.

"Hey, look at me. I'm more educated than you. Maybe even more intelligent!!"

Just help the kid out or don't bother to impress us.

    Twit.

    Now to Haley!

Well done sticking it out with the online dorks and getting to your requested resolution of the problem!! I'm using your posts to teach my son a lesson.

    Thank you.

Me, too. Every single time - I get a notice to update, it asks me to log in and my address is already displayed, I put in my password and NOPE. So, I have to change my password every single time I update. Grrr.  This is going on three years and I'm not kidding, it's every time.
