If you have Event Titles selected, then you're not sorting Photos, you're sorting Events. The Photos within the Events should be sorted by title.

I see, so it solts only photos in the events by title.
How can I sort the events themselves? (I know I can do it in Events section of the Library. But Events there are shown as tiles, and I want to have a list of my multiple events. If I can do it, I am willing to switch from Adobe Bridge (which has really great organisation system) to iPhoto.)

You can't. Check out Aperture for that option.

I am already sorting Events by Title unter 'Events' section. I wanted to have events as it as a list, not as thumbnails.
That is why I was trying to sort them in 'Photos' section, where they are shown as Text.
I have many events. And I wanted to structure them well, if i were to switch to iPhoto. As I see now, iPhoto does not have many useful library management features. So I am going to stick to Lightroom and Bridge (though I don't need so much editing power).
I checked Aperture on my friend's computer (it *****, that apple is not giving trial versions).
It does not offer exactly what I was looking for.
But the Projects (aka 'Events' in iPhoto) can be sorted and put in folders (in the left panel). And it is displayed as a list (not thumbnails). This can't be done with iPhoto.
Morover, the Aperture has a much better search by keywords selection than iPhoto.
To pay 80 USD to try using Aperture. I really don't know. If there were a trial available....
I better stick to what I know works - Lightroom and Bridge.

When I sort in the Photos mode is can nearly duplicate the Event sorting if I sort the photos by date the same as the Events. However, events that were made by combining photos may not sort as expected.
This is what I get in Event mode with By Date Ascending:
and this is what the Photos mode with By Date Ascending:
They are the same. But I leave my events alone and don't mix them as a rule which could throw off the sorting order.
