Q: Mountain Lion and smtp failure

I have installed Mountain Lion and can no longer send emails from my o2 email account. They arrive via the POP server fine, but won't send on the SMTP server. Anyone know of a fix for this?

    Hi, there.

I want to share my case.

In the "Edit SMTP server list", I unchecked SSL radio button and changed to port 25 (instead of Auto) in the advanced tab. So, it worked.

Now, I don't have any problem to send and receive email from the O2 email.

    Cheers.

I have to say I am thorough disappointed in Apple's OS Software division. I've always regarded Apple's products with the highest esteem. Even bragged to my colleagues with lesser Windows computers that I don't have near the problems that they have.

Then I updated to Mountain Lion OS. I don't know what other bells and whistles ML will provide for me, I just know that I went through a very difficult time when my out going email stopped working. I blamed everyone from my ISP to the telephone company and my broadband router, not wishing to believe that Apple would launch a product with such a fundamental flaw. Major bad for Apple.

Thank goodness for this Forum and all the clever people that contribute. The Port 25 fix worked for me. Now maybe I can relasx and discover what ML has new to offer. After I've made a lot of apologies.
