You can't delete the effects that came with FCP X, only third party ones you may have installed yourself.

These other effects, titles, transitions that you may have installed live in folders inside Movies/Motion Templates in your home folder.

You can only remove them by hacking open the application, which I would seriously advise against doing.

Actually you can delete them, go into the contents and they just bundled them in there instead of being nice and making them install in the same place as third party stuff.
I got all the filters i wanted out out (effects i think they call it) but transitions seemed to return.
To be honest when bundling a load of filters that are really very poor you think it would have been nice if they could have made it nice and easy to de clutter the space by deleting them if we aren't, say, 8 years old.
Same with the Text built in styles in the drop down for Lower Third Text. Great if you are 8 years old, but there is just a long list of poor styles cluttering up an otherwise useful drop down menu where we could store settings for specific clients.
Lack of common sense or ego in overdrive and a deluded belief the built in filters are any use to sane people.
