I was really hoping that today's update would fix this issue, but it hasn't.

In fact I can't even select an iPhoto Album anymore.

If anyone knows of a third party software that can do this or something please let us know. I'm tired of watching only two or three pictures pop up on my screen saver when I've got 19,000 in a collection for this (and other reasons)

I sent feedback to apple as well via the link above... but i'm tired of waiting, theres gotta be another option...

This bug is very annoying for mee too.

I just can't understand why somebody has touched this part of the OS.

    This makes absolutely no sense.

Or have you ever seen somebody saying: "Wow! What a big progress! I have a castrated sreensaver now. I 've dreamed so long of such a feature!"?

Apple should fix this very sudden. I can't understand why the fix wasn't paret of the update to 10.8.1

I'm missing the option to include subfolders into the screensaver too. Therefore I downgraded to Lion with my time machine backup.

A complete downgrade is a little much, isn't it?

Maybe there is a possibility to just replace the screensaver pref pane with the older version?

I'm having a similar problem. I can only pick one folder at a time to display for the screen saver. When I try to pick more then one it says "No Photos". Any help would be appreciated!!

    +1

Tried to cheat by making a smart folder of the jpg's in the photography folder but the screen saver wont work on smart folders.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else, although strangely on my iMac from 2008 (also upgraded to Mountain Lion) I'm able to select my entire iPhoto library in the screen saver system preferences. But this option isnt available on my 2010 MacBook Pro. Whatever, Mac!!

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and found this issue... and it is a huge issue!  I have over 2,000 pictures per year since 2005, and being able to have the screen saver display pictures in subfolders is quite bothersome.  I do like Mountain Lion over all, but this is a huge issue for me.

In addition to feedback, which might get lost in the marketing warrens, if any of you want to report this issue directly to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via Apple's Bug Reporter system. Register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

Replying to ALL ABOVE. First- make a folder (I put it on the desktop for convenience) with all the photos you want in screensaving mode.

Then -> a really simple solution as provided by tech at 1800-MY-APPLE:

1- open Screensaver Panel in System Preferences.

2- choose (clk) a Slideshow style (left side).

3- see "Source" at right side of Panel and go to "Choose folder".

4- choose the folder with your chosen pix; you'll get a preview to verify the style of slideshowing; change style to your desire.

5- close the Preferences and you got it done.

I wonder would this have anything to do with the sandboxing features the ML brought with it?
