Why am I having trouble on my sign out with the Itunes store tab (like it stays highlighted) & can't get the application to close down either?

This has happenend several times in the past few months. I do a reboot, also checking the task manager to close out Itunes (which says Itunes is not responding). In need of some help!! I really have got to sign out of my account and now I cannot. Itunes will not respond properly.
