Unable to Login to Support Communities Using Regular Apple ID

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I couldn't find any suitable section, so here goes...


I am unable to login to support communities using my normal apple id. When first trying to login, I am asked to re-enter my password for "added security". Once I do that, I am asked to pick a username. When I pick a username, I get a message that "An account using this Apple ID already exists". If it does, then why am I not logged in using that ID?


Any assistance is appreciated.
