TS3354 Can't play HD movie with HDCP

I just received this message after buying an $18 HD movie.  I paid for the movie, yet I cannot watch it.  Why am I being penalized/troubled because of others?  Can I play this movie at all?  Is there a way to tell if my hardware will allow me to play it?
