there is somehting wrong witht eh charging port so its hardware nothing you can do to fix it on your own. if it still under warranty it can be repaired/replaced

Same is happening to my original iPad now. Did you ever get a resolution or discover the cause of the issue?

I took it to see a "genius", and they said that the charging port was broken, and that it wasn't repairable. The only thing they offered was to replace it (the exact same model) for $250. I still haven't done it, as my iPad will charge, just VERY slowly. The battery also dies very quickly. I am not able to connect it to the computer though, so I can't update it or add things (pictures, music, movies, etc) from my computer.
