Aug 27, 2012 2:00 AM in response to borqueeby syslink,Hi Borquee,
this is a known issue. Adobe doesn´t support storing directly to Xsan volumes (as far as I know).
Sometimes it works, (e.g. Indesign) but Photoshop is known for having issues.
Uncomfortable work-around: Save to Desktop / copy to Xsan volume from there.

Aug 27, 2012 2:16 AM in response to syslinkby borquee, writing files should be a system operation (not adobe's business)...

Aug 27, 2012 11:36 PM in response to borqueeby borquee,Hi,
I tried to ask adobe... no luck...
Better workaround is to use network shares to write from Photoshop

Aug 28, 2012 8:29 AM in response to borqueeby Blaidd Drwg,Does your volume have native extended attributes enabled?

Aug 28, 2012 8:45 AM in response to Blaidd Drwgby borquee,Not sure, how do I check? (it is pretty much default installation)

Aug 28, 2012 8:52 AM in response to borqueeby Blaidd Drwg,Inspect the volume in Xsan admin. or check NamedStreams value in the volume.cfg file in /Library/Preferences/Xsan. The default for new volumes should be enabled.
I'm not suggesting you enable it if it isn't, because it might take a long time to enable without making a difference. But I wonder if it might make a difference. Maybe set up a test volume to check. (I would but I don't have Photoshop.)

Aug 28, 2012 5:01 PM in response to borqueeby SuperSeventySeven,I'm currently experiencing the same problem. Xsan 2.3 / Snow Leopard / Photoshop CS6 all got along just fine together...
Going to continue to experiment tonight as we HAVE to have support for Photoshop on our SAN...will keep you posted if I find anything out.
Have you had any luck at all?

Aug 28, 2012 5:10 PM in response to SuperSeventySevenby SuperSeventySeven,Okay it looks like if you disable Image Thumbnails under Preferences / File Handling it works for PSDs & Tiffs.
I'm still having trouble with Tiffs using LZW compression though and TGA files though...but at least we barely use those....

Aug 28, 2012 7:30 PM in response to SuperSeventySevenby SuperSeventySeven,And the dream is dead. Disabling the Thumbnails works for the first save.. but on consecutive overwrites the error appears and the file promptly dissapears from the server.
@Blaidd Drwg - we do have native extended attributes enabled - do you think it would help to disable ?
-
Aug 29, 2012 12:37 PM in response to SuperSeventySevenby Blaidd Drwg,You cannot disable native extended attributes on an existing volume. You have to create a new volume with that feature disabled. I do not know if it would help to do this.

Sep 19, 2012 11:10 AM in response to Erics1019by SuperSeventySeven,Still haven't found anything - we've been using the save to desktop work around. Just saw that 10.8.2 was released - maybe something in there will solve this issue. Will try upgrading in the next week or two and let you know if it resolves the issue.
