Q: Apple TV won't work in my dorm room?

Okay so I just moved into my dorm with my new Apple TV. I had it set up and working perfectly at home for a few days before I left for school. I hooked it up here and now I am stuck at the "Home Sharing/Settings" screen and can't do anything from there. When I try and connect to iTunes or to Home Sharing, it askes me for Apple ID and password. After entering my information it says that my username and password are incorrect and when I test my network connection, it tells me that the iTunes store is currently unavailable.

I have tried restarting the ATV and even resetting it to the default settings with no luck. I am thinking it has to be something with the internet here? The wireless has WPA2 security and I have no way of controlling anything on the network. However, I have everything in my room connected via ethernet cable...

Wall jack --> Linksys 5-Port Switch --> Macbook Pro and Apple TV

Is there something that I am missing as far as set-up goes? Could the switch be causing an issue? Am I out of luck??

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!!

    Quick update.

There is another Wi-Fi network in my building that doesn't have any security. I tried connecting to that with my Macbook Pro and iPad and it works flawlessly.

I unplugged my Apple TV and tried to connect it to that same network. I have full signal strength however, it still won't allow me to sign in. It says that iTunes store is unavailable or that my username and password are incorrect. I also tried eliminating my switch from the equation and connecting it directly into the wall but I still have the same issues.

I solved the problem! I figured I would come on and post a solution for anyone that is looking to install an Apple TV in their dorm room without the use of a router, ect.

Okay so, I am not allowed to have a router in my dorm room because it interferes with the school's wireless network apparently. They didn't say anything about using your MacBook Pro as a wireless router. So here is what I did...

I have my Linksys ethernet switch connected to the ethernet jack in the wall. Then, I have my computer connected to the ethernet switch. Instead of trying to directly connect both my computer and the ATV, I decided to create my own network using my MBP. I created my own wireless network using the "Internet Sharing" feature and connected my ATV to that wirelessly. I no longer have any trouble connecting to iTunes or streaming wireless movies from Netflix!

I hope this helps anyone that is looking to do something similar!
