I have been trying to make a partition for MtLion on my 60GB MBAir. Everytime I have tried it gives me the "try not resizing the partition as much" failure even though I don't change the default partition. Does anyone have an idea as to how I can do this?

Seems like you have to change the default partition to make enought room for an additional partition.  Here's a sample screenshot of a Lion/ML partitioned disk.  Blue areas are used.

Yes, I tried that but apparently just don't have enough room or something. I have ordered a 240GB upgrade to my MBA so I'll just have to wait till it gets here. Thanks for trying to help.

Let us know if the new one gives you trouble.

Sure will. I'm looking forward to the upgrade. Kinda expensive but as a test platform (i've got 3 of them, my boys both have one) it could be worth the cost if the performance is there. I've been reading up on the SSd performance on pageouts and it seems that there may not be as much of an issue with the SSDs as with HDs. The bus speed is only 800MHz as well as the RAM, so with 300MHZ read/write speeds on the SSD it might be worth the upgrade rather than new ones.

I upgraded a MBair 1,1 to SSD, it's a real screamer now with snow leopard.  The difference was night and day.

My 2011 MBair with SSD also performs well with Mountain Lion.  You'll love the difference SSD makes.

The MBAirs I've got are the 2010 3,1 build with the 60GB SSDs. They are almost as fast as the 2.66 core 2 duo 6GB RAM iMac. I need more HD room so thats why I'm trying the 240GB SSD upgrade. It's supposed to be 50% faster than Apple's installed SSD. What I was trying to do was partition off a space for MtLion but it won't let me as my driver is already half full, even really pared down. I'll run speed tests on the SSDs before the upgrade and then after, I'll post the results.

Boy did I have a DUHH moment. In trying to partition my drive I was using the drive so it couldn't perform the  operation. I now have come fully into the 21st century and have MtLion up and running. Hopefully I'll be able to direct people better now that I have something to work from. Guessing stinks.  Seems to be working pretty good for now. Guess I got a clean install

Congrats!  I think you'll like ML.  Always helps to have the hardware/software you're giving advice on!!
