Q: 4 finger swipe not working

Downloaded Lion this morning and the 4 finger swipe to move between full screen apps isn't working at all.  It doesn't even try.  I've tried toggling the settings, etc.

This is on a 27 inch iMac with a Magic Trackpad.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I figured this out. You MUST have the application open in full screen to 4 finger swipe. This was driving me crazy because it would work sometimes and others not.  I then realized that my Outlook or Word wasn't in full screen.

If your gestures aren't working try turning all of them off and then all of them on.

    log out and back in.

This should still work with or without fullscreen apps. it should also bounce your screen if you have no other desktops.

if turning them off and on doesn't work then update your system to 10.7.4 and see if your issue persists.

if it does, file a bug to apple.

go to Applications > Utilities and select Terminal. At the prompt, type killall Dock.

That Reboot the Dock and Mission Control

Problem still exists in Yosemite 10.10.5 on MBP Retina 15" (Mid-2015). Same workaround (option key) and cure (turn off all gestures and turn back on, no reboot required) both work. Seems like Apple would have fixed this by now, but oh well.

Rats! Well it turns out that turning off all gestures and turning them back on didn't exactly turn out to be the best idea.

First, it reset all my four-finger gestures to three fingers. That was easy enough to correct. But now, three-finger drag does not work anymore! And what's worse, it doesn't show up in System Preferences as an option! OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, MBP Retina 15" Mid-2015. Three-finger drag worked before I turned off all the "More gestures" options and turned them back on, but now it acts like a two-finger gesture (scrolls, and does previous/next page in Safari). Any suggestions on how to get it back?

Never mind, I found three-finger drag. Under Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Trackpad Options, the Enable dragging option's popup menu. Seems a rather odd place to hide something so universally useful.
