Q: Duplicate contacts only on my iPad from exchange server

Since IOs5 my iPad 2 suddenly starts to duplicate contacts from my exchange server (Office 365), if I go to my server I won´t see the duplicate, only in my iPad 2, if I delete the account and add it again they will dissappear but they will start duplicate one more time.

What can I do?, Does anyone have this issue?

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1

We are using Outlook Exchange online with the same problem.  I have tried most of the alternatives mentioned previously obviously without success.  I am joining this community to show support.  I have +3900 contacts and it is definitely a problem.   This issue will influence my decision in the future of company used phone devices.  I am convinced that MS Exchange Online Server is an excellent working tool.  This issue proves that apple devices are entertainment devices.

Its really frustrating, so see that the original post is from January 2012 and the issue is not yet solved.

Microsoft has also opened an issue on this, last Revie Mai 2012.

I am facing the same problem on my uncles device with around 4000 contacts. He has caused more than 100.000 duplicate contacts ! I told him to stop syncing contacts, because Apple is not able to do this !

After reading all forum-posts and other discussion in the web, there is no solution yet, more than 6 months later.

It seems clearly to be a Apple-Problem handling the Active Sync of contacts.

It just NOT works Apple, please fix it !

When can we expect a solution ?

I have this problem as well.  I have an open ticket with Apple and I filed a bug report.

3 are having the problem users all on Office 365.  All have 1000+ contacts.  All have iPhone 4s (5.1.1) and a New iPad. All have contacts syns off on all accounts except Exchange (Office 365).

As someone who has been following this thread for a few months, I will be flabbergasted if this is ever fixed within IOS 5. I think we all just need to hope that it will be fixed in the upcoming IOS 6 release.

We ended up putting IOS 6 beta on our CEO's devices. So far so good. We'll see.

How do you get iOS 6 beta?  Anything's worth a shot at this point.

You have to register in the iOS Developer program. There is a $99 fee.

    Hi CyberGuyPR.

Since you are the only person from this group who is testing iOS6 - we would all be very greatful if you could elaborate on the results of your testing this issue on iOS6.

Please provide us with any more information you can.

    Thanks.

Our issue was with the CEO's equipment so our time with the devices has been limited. What we did initially was put the iPad on IOS 6 and leave the iPhone on 5.x. We noticed the issue was still ocurring but only when he searched on the iPhone. For 3 weeks he used both devices and all duplicating got triggered by the iPhone. Last week we put the iPhone on IOS 6. So far the issue hasn't ocurred.

It is definitely to early to categorically say that IOS 6 solves the issue but thing are definitely looking better. Based on my limited testing I can say that the iPad has been solid for almost a month and the iPhone has been good for one week.

CyberGuyPR, are you using Office 365 service??... or Exchange Server hosted locally??..

My ipad duplicate my contacts, I have Exchange 2007 hosted locally, and the contacts are duplicating also on my server. I think that in the Office 365 the contacts only duplicate on the iPad and not on the server, right?..

I hope that the IOS6 will solve the exchange server 2007/2010 errors and algo the Office 365....

The 4 instances of this I have (4 different people) all have Office 365.  And they dup on the device.  Turning off Contacts and turning it back on resolves the issue for awhile. Same as you eugeniomtz.  [Edit]  Just to clear the issue, we get some dups on the server, but not as many as on the device and not all the time like on the device.  I'm not even sure that the server and iOS issues are related.  I have not been able to actually see that occuring.

You can now install IOS6 on devices to test to see if the problem goes away..

    http://lifehacker.com/5942469/upgrade-to-ios-6-right-now

I would rather wait until this 19 of sept...

JBNET, I have detected this issue, hope you can share if you have the same going on...

If you open the contacts on Windows Outlook, you can add the field "Modified", and you can see that the contacts are being modified everyday, this is the iPad doing something wrong with them that´s always modifying the contacts (evendough it´s not changing the content of the contacts), and suddely they start to duplicate.

I hope you all have this issue, and I pray that the IOS6 fixes this issue...

I installed iOS 6 on my iPad 2 yesterday. So far the "duplicating" issue with Contacts appears to have been fixed. What are others finding? I was thinking about getting an iPhone - but wanted to see if iOS 6 resolved this issue first - so what have the iPhone users been finding?
