Q: iLife installation failure

Purchased used iMac.  Just wiped the hard drive and reinstalled OS X 10.6.4 from the Install DVD that came with the unit.  Now trying to install iLife bundled applications, but the installation process fails after entering username and password. Error message "an unknown installation error occured.  The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.  Contact the software manugacturer for assistance."  Any suggestions?

Make sure all updates have been installed.  All was good after that.
