Apple used to sell jam packs to increase your instrument choices in Garage Band. Is there anything like that? 3rd party? Most of the horns really stink and there are only 4 choices. What can I do to increase drum kits (not so much loops; just instruments), pianos, etc.

PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67 GHz), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Apple still offers them, only now all of them are free if you buy MainStage from the Mac App Store for $30.

    Michael,

when you install Mainstage 2, the instruments and Loops will be installed in the System Library in exactly the same folders as the foldrs where GarageBand is looking foor loops and instruments. So you can use them from GarageBand as well like any other instruments and loops that come with GarageBand.

    Regards

    Léonie

I'm afraid the bulletsandbones site didn't work for me.

sorry about that, it seems the hosting site went down about an hour ago, they've assured me their working on it, so hopefully it'll be back soon (I'll post back when the instructions are again reachable)

meanwhile, the ever helpful Léonie explained the deal with MainStage; it's a deal you can't beat if you want even a single Jam Pack.

the hosting site is back up (took them long enough!), and the links all work now.
