Q: I have an Iphone ver 5.1.1. from ATT but I am in Taiwan for a while

I would like to use the phone with a local carrier. The ATT guy told me it would not be a problem if it were unlocked when I came back to the states but he didn't tell me how to unlock it. Can someone help. I am not a geek but have been using computers since the 80s. Thanks for any help.

Okay, thanks. I submitted my request and ATT said they would get back to me within 5 to 7 working days. Have you ever personally done this?

I've done it. AT&T will unlock the phone if you are a current or former customer and you satisfied your contract. See: Authorized Unlock an AT&T iPhone
