Aug 31, 2012 8:03 AM in response to pellewkby pellewk,Ok I just solved my own update problems. but just to let everyone know I also tried to download from apple on Safari, foxfire and Google chrome as well as IE. Anyhoo. I downloaded 10.6.3 from a website other than apple and it let me download the file. installed perfectly. All my movies, books, songs and playlists were there and accounted for. Now to update my ipad. Whew hope I don't have this much trouble to it.

Aug 31, 2012 2:00 PM in response to ColJonSquall1by Travernator,I know this is a little bit unrelated but any help with this would be much appreciated. I managed to reinstall itunes to solve my initial problem, however, uninstalling itunes also involves uinstalling some of its components and programmes that work along with it in a certain order, however one of these components, apple mobile device support wouldn't uninstall, so i uninstalled all the rest and left apple mobile device support until last when it finally decided to uninstall. Now, I'm stuck with the issues that itunes itself has reinstalled fine, but apple mobile device support hasn't installed with it, and that's the programme i need for itunes to connect with my ipad and ipod.
Is there a way to just install the missing component apple mobile device support without having to reinstall itunes again, as i tried that and failed, apple mobile device support still wouldn't install with it.

Sep 3, 2012 9:08 PM in response to Travernatorby rndmblkgrl,So I may have figured it out. I went through and tried everything. I don't know if anyone has posted this solution, but I went to my Apple Software Update in Programs and Features. I right clicked and selected REPAIR. I did it twice, because I wasn't sure if it repaired. I went back to my downloads on Chrome and selected iTunes and it downloaded with no problem. My iTunes is working better than ever and now my iTunes update window pops up again.
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525.
Hope this is helpful.

Sep 4, 2012 4:06 AM in response to rndmblkgrlby HYTL,Hi rndmblkgrl,
Yours is a different problem. We have having problems on windows 7 X 64 bit and you solution did not solve the problem. I think only apple can solve the problem but they are taking so long.

Sep 8, 2012 3:58 PM in response to pellewkby Insert Wisdom Here,I have tried using the automatic updater on all of my computers, being that they are of different operating systems i.e.(Windows 7,64bit/32bit; Windows XP, Vista), and a Mac as well (running Lion); I am led to believe that this is an issue on apple's part. However i do not believe that people should be hating apple for this, as i have updated to the latest version of itunes manually, there is no non-programming or noticeable difference. But if it is really bothering you (OCD) -_- then manually do it. It is really not a big deal, and when apple resolves the dilemna nobody will notice a big difference. However if the problem does persist and transfer to not being able to update iOS devices or to say itunes 11 (supposedly a big update), then there is reason to complain.

Sep 11, 2012 7:01 PM in response to phillipfromctby mike-d157,I saw Apple Sofware Update working before applying any Windows updates today. I believe this places the ball squarely in Apple's court as to who is to blame. I suspect they needed to get it working in time for tomorrow's announcement.

Sep 12, 2012 12:54 AM in response to RDF1173by josvazg,Just to confirm.
I downloaded manually iTunes from the website on my MacBookAir and installation works.
Also the MAC OS X updater stopped complaining about the corrupeted update.
I guess the problem for other OSs is different.

Sep 12, 2012 9:28 AM in response to RDF1173by markarich159,This issue has now been occurring since at least June. I have posted on several threads on this forum,(including this one) related to this Apple Software Updater problem, since it began. It's amazing to me that, not ONE TIME since June, I or anybody else I know has heard a peep from Apple either to explain what is/was going on or to offer assistance. It's further amazing that it took the release of a totally new product(the iPhone 5) for Apple to resolve this seemingly simple issue.
Apple is going in a direction that worries me.

Sep 12, 2012 9:40 AM in response to RDF1173by ColJonSquall1,updater, at least for me, is still showing a problem locating the proper file to update, will try manual installation from site, to see if that's fixed.

Sep 12, 2012 10:01 AM in response to ColJonSquall1by ColJonSquall1,nope, same problem for me. At some point in the previous updates or install of iTunes, from what the computer is telling me from the error, is that the uninstaller is either missing or corrupted.

Sep 12, 2012 10:03 AM in response to markarich159by galwaytt,Exactly: this thread alone, 26,000 views, and over 100 posts.........and not a word from Apple.
Remind me please: why are we still using Apple, if they patently couldn't give a monkey's about us ? Anyone got good experience of a viable alternative ??

Sep 12, 2012 10:10 AM in response to galwayttby ColJonSquall1,I happen to find it easier to organize my files, and easier to get access to podcasts I listen to, even if it doesn't update properly, at least its still functional. If it becomes a problem with connecting to the iTunes Store to get my podcasts, then I'll be less inclined to use it.

Sep 13, 2012 5:32 AM in response to ColJonSquall1by HYTL,Same problem for me on Windows 7. Amazing, think I must find alternatives. This has been going on for way too long. Cannot even connect to itunes store.
