Q: Giving iPad3 as a gift

Hi. I would just want to know if I purchase another iPad3 here in United Kingdom to give as a gift to my son in another country(Philippines), I have one already for myself, and set it all up, apple id etc, the works and preload it with apps, movies from iTunes store, will it be okay for my son to use it in the Philippines? What I meant with set it all up is with my son's own new Apple id etc. I have read in the terms and conditions here in Apple UK that you can only use it here in UK. Any pointers will be very much appreciated guys.

    You can use the UK iTunes Store... your Son will only be able to use the Philippines store...

     

    You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country...

    Hi AnaMusic. Thank you for the quick reply. I was thinking of pre loading my son's new iPad with apps, movies by getting me iTunes cards/gift cards and redeem them, without linking any credit card. Have read in one of the threads here I believe that you can do that( owning the new iPad, getting apps, movies etc by redeeming from an iTunes gift card, without linking a credit card.. Not sure if it is true.

    I wouold actually recommend sending the giftcards to your son.  Or, you would need to get his AppleID and do it under his account, the issue that may arrise is if there is an app you can get that is not available where he is.  You do not have to have a CC to redeem giftcards.

     

    Personally, I would send the cards to him with the iPad.

     

    Now, if you really wanted to be nice, you could fully charge it for him.
