Hi there.  i have been making backup QT movies of a whole bunch of Beta SP tapes using an AJA Ki Pro to record ProRes 422 files.  I have used QT7pro to trim these movies and add metadata.  Played back on QT7 (7.6.6) they sound find but playing the same movie on QT player 10.1 there is an echo on the audio as if one track has been knocked back about 6 or 7 frames.   Using QT7 to set Ch1 and 2 to mono or stereo makes no difference, just spaces the echo out.

any help much appreciated having just finished about 30 hours of material!    Cheers Phil

I've got the same issue. Here's my post:

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4294610

    Still no reply for me.

However, I found that the problem occurs when the two chanels are on two different tracks (sorry for the french...):

PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz

PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz

But works well when the 2 channels are on the same track, like this:

PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 2 canaux, 48000 Hz

Also, check your videos in NicePlayer... Works fine for me...

    Hope this help...

one more test: no echo in Preview!!

Preview, VLC, NicePlayer, web browser quicktime extension, Quicktime 7 are all fine!

Only echo problem with Quicktime 10.1!

    Thanks for the workaround!

It's a relief for me, no need to reformat my laptop

I noticed I have the same problem too (sometimes) if a movie has two audio tracks. Quicktime acts as if its playing both stereo and surround at the same time.

If you go to the Quicktime Menu > View > Languages , then select one of the audio tracks, the echo will go away.

    same issue here.

    10.8.2 macbook pro retina 2.7 16gb ram 512 drive.

    ki pro version 3.1.0.42

at first thought the file is corrupt, took it to finalcut pro and rerendered it mono. and that helped with playing back in quicktime 10.2

then I played the original video on a different macbook pro with mac lion 10.7 it sounded fine. realized its my machine. played it on vlc player and it played back fine. sooooo quicktime 10.2 is broken with prores 422 from ki pro. tried the fixes that is stated in this topic but no luck still get the echo.
