I wanted to order AppleCare when I ordered my iPhone 5, but the Apple Store app never gave me the chance (it took me straight to checkout).

I've tried to modify the order but haven't found a way without canceling it, and don't want to do that at this point.

Any ideas?

TIA, Bob

    Call Apple Sales...1-800-MY-APPLE...in the US.

Call back then, because no one here can modify your order.

You can always go into an apple store in a week or two and still get it.

I had the same problem and tried calling multiple times today to no avail. This evening I received an email from Apple Sales saying that they noticed I had not been offered the option to add AppleCare. All I had to do was reply to the email to add AppleCare to my order.

Bob, definitely be patient. They seem swamped right now. I could get through to 1-800-MYAPPLE, but would always get disconnected once I got past the automaton.

Here is the full email text since it outlines all the options if you were not offered AppleCare at time of order. They clearly indicate you can call AppleCare at 1-800-MY-IPHONE (which is a different number from 1-800-MYAPPLE) within the first 30 days of ordering. I would try that number as an option although it may actually connect to the same number behind the scenes. I didn't actually try because my problem was solved.

    ---

Thank you for your recent iPhone 5 purchase at the Apple Store.

We would like to let you know that every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee.

We noticed you weren't given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ to your iPhone. If you would like to extend your coverage for only $99, please reply to this email by September 21st.

After that date, if you would still like to purchase AppleCare+ within the first thirty days of receiving your iPhone, you can call AppleCare at 800-MY-IPHONE or visit an Apple Retail Store.

Thank you for shopping with Apple.

Did you get an email response?  I got the email on Saturday and replied around 9:30 AM and haven't gotten a response, and my order hasn't changed at all.

I got the email on Friday night, replied immediately and got a response late Sunday afternoon. My order now shows AppleCare.

kgipp, you might have to go the Apple Store route if you can't get through before your order ships. You might also want to try sending an email to apple_sales_support@apple.com with the subject line "Apple Order xxxxx" (where xxxxx is your order number) asking to add AppleCare+ to your order.

I just called the 800-my-apple, and was told the policy had just changed-tech said he got the memo this morning.  Call with the serial # (in my case when mine gets here from China) and they'll sell you a plan over the phone.

Same issue with the 4s I bought.  Think they'd have fixed this by now.

I got the email and replied to it.  It took a couple days but they did finally update my order.
