The backup doesn't contain music, in iCloud or in iTunes. Music from the iTunes store is "backed up" in "iTunes in the Cloud" as you can redownload purchased music for free, whether you back up or not. You'll have to sync with iTunes to transfer back your music. This article overviews what is included in the iCloud backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859. (You'll note that it mentions unlimited storage for backing up purchased music, but that's referring to iTunes in the cloud.) Also, restoring from a backup on your computer using iTunes is much faster than restoring from an iCloud backup. (If you're interested, this shows what's included in the iTunes backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946.)

What did you find confusing? Here are the key points:
1. An iCloud Backup doesn't include your music
2. You can redownload music purchased from the iTunes Store again for free. This is called "iTunes in the cloud". This is completely separate from your iCloud backup.
3. All your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. If you need to restore it to your device you simply sync it back.
