Right or control click the Safari app in the Applications folder then click Get Info
If you see version 5.1.6 or 5.1.7 in the Get Info panel, updating to Safari 6 may help.
Apple has not posted a standalone Safari 6 installer, but there is a work around.
Then click the link posted by: gregoryfromcork
That will automatically download this file > Safari6Lion.pkg.download
Now quit Safari.
Go to your Downloads folder and double click that file and follow the instructions for installing.
Then restart your Mac, try Safari.
Please can you help me too? I am having the same problem and have tried to follow your advice, this might be a stupid question! I am reading this on another computer as I can't get on to 'help' on the affected computer because safari won't work - I have tried emailing the link to myself but even then when I click on it, it brings up the same 'safari quit unexpectedly' message - so how do I get the link to work on the affected computer?
